THE CUSTOMER
The customer is a clinic that works both accredited by the National Health System (NHS) and as a private service. The entire Clinic is wired in optic fiber and the intranet, with accesses through personal computer from every working point, allows the net sharing of all information resources for a fast and efficient management of all the activities.

THE REQUIREMENT
The customer requirement was to equip itself with an informative system that allows the management of operating rooms, clinical workflow and billing, integrated with the booking system already present in the structure.

THE SOLUTION
At this purpose, C System has developed "Pegaso", a DB Driven modular system that allows the dynamic control of hospital departments and supports the clinical workflow management. The system is made up of 5 main modules:
  • Data manager
  • Hospitalization management
  • Operating theatre
  • Clinical pathways
  • Emergency and acceptance department
  • Unified Booking Centre - Cashier
DATA MANAGER
The data manager module, that is at the base of the entire system, is a dynamic tool for the data management through Web Form interfaces configured on DB.
Using this module, the user can define new forms or change the list and the type of form fields already present, simply entering in the Database, in a particular setup table, the information necessary to build the form.
The field description allows to define characteristics such as:
  • Field type (combo-box, list-box, text-field, buttons, etc.)
  • Data Sourcing Table and Database
  • Related help text
  • Correlations (field/fields to update as a consequence of a change on another field)
For each form it is possible to insert, modify and delete data and to print them defining a report template associated to the form. Moreover, the system allows to save configured fields on a DB table or on a XML file.

HOSPITALIZATION MANAGEMENT
Beds Booking is managed using a grid in which it is possible to book, modify and delete hospitalizations and to associate to each bed a status that describes the actual situation.
These features, already presents in a previous application used in the clinic, have been integrated in Pegaso: they have been updated, introduced in the new architecture and managed with dynamic forms.

OPERATING THEATRE
The module "Operating theatre Agenda" allows to manage the booking of operating rooms and outpatient departments: for each theatre / surgery it is possible to make a booking, defining beginning time and length, physician, nurse equip, patient and intervention type.
It’s also possible accounting the use of prostheses on patient file.

CLINICAL PATHWAYS
"Clinical pathways " is a tool that makes it possible to define, for each pathology, a dynamic treatment path and making in a graphical representation (Flow Chart).
One or more treatment plan(s) can be, at once, associated to a patient tracing the workflow with the treatment path effectively followed.

EMERGENCY AND ACCEPTANCE DEPARTMENT MANAGEMENT
The module "Emergency and Acceptance Department” manages all events of emergency department acceptance phase.Among these: patient administrative identification, Triage, Fast Track, consultancy request, services (laboratory, radiology) request management.
It allows the real time monitoring of patient situation and the management of declarations from and to patient.

UNIFIED BOOKING CENTRE - CASHIER
The unified Booking Centre - Cashier module allows the booking and acceptance of outpatient and laboratory services through the searching and selection of service, the searching and selection (or the eventual insertion) of the patient, the searching and the real-time-update of available appointments and, subsequently, their acceptance and billing even in private regimen.
